"That’s a lovely shot!" commented Becky French, Media and Events Coordinator for CPRE Hampshire, before writing with the news that the committee had chosen David's image for this year's card. "The picture actually dates from December 1999," says David. "We'd had a fall of snow just after Christmas, and I grabbed the camera and drove up to Stoke Charity with a mental image of the shot that I wanted to take. The late afternoon sunlight was just perfect – but I was lucky enough to capture these swans as well as the reflection of the church, which was the picture that I'd had in mind!" David's popular picture was taken on 35mm Fujichrome film, and later scanned in-house as a digital image. It has also featured on the front cover of Hampshire, the county's monthly magazine. The cards cost £4 for a pack of ten, and all proceeds go to CPRE Hampshire. Buy them online from CPRE Hampshire's own website (postage extra) or in person from the charity Christmas card shop in Winchester's Guildhall. |
