The stunning 180-page hardcover book includes essays from more than 30 distinguished contributors, including Jilly Cooper, Jonathan Dimbleby, Griff Rhys Jones and Monty Don.

A Portrait of England was specially commissioned to mark the 80th anniversary of the Campaign to Protect Rural England. The book is lavishly illustrated with beautiful colour images of England's countryside as it changes through the seasons.

"I was delighted to help CPRE celebrate this landmark in its long history," says David, who has been a member of the campaigning charity for many years. "Anyone who cares about England's breathtaking scenery and rural communities should think seriously about supporting CPRE's work".

David's contribution captures the magic of the Kennet and Avon canal on a cold winter's day, and includes interviews with some of the characters who help bring the landscape to life.

“There have been many coffee-table books on the English landscape, but this one is special … The authors, drawn from a wide spectrum of our best writers, commentators, rural experts and pundits, inspire on each page with fresh insights.”
