David’s 35mm transparency shares a platform with the work of other Guild photographers, including Tom Hutton, Anna McKibbin and Jon Sparks.

The picture was taken last year whilst cruising Scotland’s Union Canal in preparation for a travel feature commissioned by In Britain magazine. It shows members of the crew on the after deck of the Black Prince narrowboat Fiona, studying their day’s route on the local Ordnance Survey Explorer map.

Commenting on the requirement to showcase a varied selection of work from several of the Guild’s photographers, Directory editor Ronald Turnbull said “thanks again David … your map readers really fit my brief just right”.
